Our Brazilian language trip takes you to Florianopolis, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina. Florianopolis is considered one of the cities with the highest quality of life in Brazil. Your language course includes 3 hours of language instruction 5x a week including teaching material and German-speaking support on-site. The language school is located in Lagoa da Conceicao, a small, lively district of Florianopolis. Lagoa da Conceicao combines dunes, mountains and the largest lake on the island and is located about 14km from the city center.
Itinerary
Our English-speaking guide will already be waiting for you at the airport. On the way to your accommodation, he will show you the language school and give you the first tips for your stay in Florianopolis. On your first day of instruction, at the agreed time, you will be introduced to the language school and will receive a detailed introduction and information on the language course. On the day of departure, you will be picked up by your English-speaking driver at the accommodation and transferred to the airport.
Language School
The private language school for Brazilian Portuguese for foreigners is located in the center of Lagoa da Conceicao and offers language courses in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. At present, there are 11 qualified language teachers, five of whom teach Portuguese as a foreign language. Martha Ghizzo, the director of the school, has been running the school for 14 years. She has a degree in Portuguese and English from the USFC, Federal University of Santa Catarina and a degree in Business Administration from the UDESC, State University of Santa Catarina. She also holds a Diploma in English as a Foreign Language from the University of South Florida, USA.
Courses
You can choose between courses with individual lessons or group lessons. Group classes are subject to availability and will take place in groups of 3-12 participants. During the course, the school gives great importance to interaction and active speaking is the main subject. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in the context. Practical lessons such as visiting a supermarket or a bank to are part of the course. Portuguese is taught in six levels, following the European Framework of Reference (CEFRL): Learning, Teaching, and Assessment. Each level consist of modules (4-6). Each module consists of 15 teaching hours plus self-study. Each student receives a learning book with exercises at the beginning of the lesson. For self-study, you may also use the school's library.
Lagoa da Conceicao
Lagoa da Conceicao is the meeting point of the surrounding area and offers an excellent tourist infrastructure with numerous bars, cafes, shops and a cultural offer. The restaurants offer excellent fish specialties of the region. Lagoa da Conceicao is the starting point for reaching numerous beaches on the island. Praia Mole and Praia da Joaquina, the famous surf beaches are easy and quick to reach and are only 5 minutes from the center of the town. The other beaches and the center of Florianopolis are also fast and easy to reach. Lagao da Conceicao is also an ideal starting point for boat trips and trekking trips to discover the stunning flora and fauna of the island.
